Let food be thy medicine

"Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food."
-Hippocrates-

Let food be thy medicine

In a day and age where there is much rampant sickness and lots of practitioners more intent on your money than on true health, we need to look back to a man who defined ethical standards in the medical practice. This well known quote which is accredited to him gives us a guide by which we can align our health and healing.

Now we do need to consider the fact that food today isn't the same as food was in the time of Ancient Greece's classical period. For too many years we have played at being gods and tampered with our food sources, breeding food varieties for their ability to stay alive and produce abundantly in any situation instead of breeding for nutrition.

This leaves us with food that is shelf-stable and not "real" food. When we do eat real foods, they are depleted of most any nutrition they would have had and in turn been laced with chemicals and pesticides. On top of this just 13% of Americans eat enough fruit and less than 9% eat enough vegetables each day according to the CDC.

Can there now be any question as to why we are all so sick? Our bodies need nutrition and we aren't feeding it enough.

Why isn't this talked about more? Why do doctors and physicians continue to prescribe medications to treat symptoms instead of finding the root cause and fixing it from there? Money. That's it in a nutshell. There is just too much money involved in health care. People decided a long time ago that it is much more profitable to be a doctor than a farmer.

So I am here to ring the bell and let you know that there is hope, you can become well, you can solve your ailments great and small. You need only to become more aware of your food intake. Make conscious decisions about what you eat and learn about how to eat more of the good stuff and less of the bad. More REAL food and less processed cardboard.
